Course Structure: MA Economics:
M A Programme in Economics is of 4(four) Semesters spread over 2 years and with an university examination at the end of every Semester. Every student will have to offer 12 compulsory courses (4 each in the first 2 semesters and 2 each in the 3rd and 4th semesters) and 4 optional courses (2 each in the 3rd and the 4th semester). There shall be and internal assessment component of 25 marks in each course. In the 4th semester the internal assessment for MEC 401 (Indian Economic Policies) will be based entirely on essays related with thematic field visits, to be announced at the beginning of the semester. The objective of this programme is to provide students with a full understanding of economic theory and with firm grounding in the analytic methods of economic theory used by economists working in research, government, and business. It also aims at equipping the students with the analytical tools of economics to have a holistic understanding of the economy in particular and the society in general. It prepares them for challenging careers open to economists.
