Imphal, June 14, 2026: To commemorate World Blood Donor Day 2026, the Manipur University Health Centre, in collaboration with the Department of Transfusion Medicine, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, successfully organized a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp on 14 June 2026 at the Department of Transfusion Medicine, RIMS, Imphal. The programme was conducted under the theme "One Drop of Humanity – Give Blood, Save Lives."
The camp aimed to promote voluntary blood donation, create awareness about the importance of regular blood donation, and encourage individuals to contribute towards saving lives. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from doctors, healthcare professionals, staff of the Manipur University Health Centre, faculty members, volunteers, blood donors, and members of the community, reflecting a shared commitment to humanitarian service.
During the programme, trained healthcare professionals conducted donor registration, medical screening, and counselling before blood donation. Safe blood collection procedures were carried out in accordance with national guidelines, and donors were observed after donation and provided with refreshments. Group photographs were also taken to commemorate the occasion and recognize the contributions of all participants.
The organizers highlighted that voluntary blood donation remains one of the noblest humanitarian services. Every unit of donated blood has the potential to save multiple lives by supporting emergency care, surgeries, cancer treatment, maternal healthcare, and the management of various blood disorders. The programme reinforced the importance of regular voluntary blood donation and encouraged participants to become ambassadors for this life-saving cause.
