Climate Change Perpective in Manipur

Two Day Research Policy Workshop on "Climate Change Perspective in Manipur" begin today (19th September 2019) at VC's Court Hall, Manipur University. The workshop was organised under Human Institutional Capacity Building (HICAB) programme and National Mission for Sustaining the Himalayan Ecosystem (NMSHE) Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.
In the Inaugural function of the workshop, welcome address was given by Prof. N. Rajmuhon Singh, followed by the Key-note address of Dr.T.Brajakumar(Dy.Director,Directorate of Environment & Climate Change, Manipur). Dr. Ng. Romeji Singh, NIT, Manipur remarks the introductory speech. Prof. Goutam Sutradhar (Director, NIT-Manipur), Prof. Ratan Kumar Saha (Director of Extension Education, CAU-Manipur) and Dr. Y. Nabachandra Singh (Director, directorate of Environment and climate change, Manipur) have deliver the presidium speech.
In the technical session of the workshop, Dr. Indu K Murthy (IISc, Bangalore) read the paper "Climate chane Impact Modelling and Data Needs-Case studies of Manipur". Prof.Manju Mohan (Centre for Atmospheric Science, IIT-Delhi) read the paper "Impacts on Microclimatic Conditions from Changing Land-use Land-cover Patterns:-Relevance to NER". and Prof. EVD Shastri (CAU-Manipur) read the paper "Climate Resilient Plant Type and crop varieties fo North Eastern India".
The second day(20th September 2019) of the workshop will be conducted at the Sangai Hotel, Hotel Imphal, North AOC. Directorate of Environment & Climate change, GoM will welcome and give the introductory note on climate change Action in Manipur: its Research & State Policy. Then, will followed by Panel Discussion on Human and Institutional Capacity Building on climate change perspective in Manipur. Prof. N.Mohendro Singh (Honorary Advisor, State Climate change Acion Plan, Manipur) will chair the Panel Discussion. The panelists of the Panel Discussion will be the i. Prof. N. Rajmuhon Singh (Principal Investigator, HICAB project-"Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment"), ii. Prof.L.Nabachandra Singh (Principal Investigator, HICAB Project "Climate Resilient Agriculture", iii. Dr. Ng Romeji Singh (Principal Investigator, HICAB Project "Climate change Impacts & Hydrology"), iv. Dr. I Meghchandra Singh (Co-Principal Investigator, ICAR Project "National Innovative on climate Resilient Agriculture"), v. Dr. H. Birkumar Singh (Principal Investigator, NMHS Project "Study on Impact River Basin") and vi. Dr.T.Brajakumar Singh (Principal Investigator, DST-NMSHE project "State Climate change Cell, Manipur).
