Manipur University, 26/12/2025: The NSS Cell, in collaboration with the Fit India Campaign Committee and the Fit India Club, Manipur University, organised the Celebration of Veer Bal Diwas–2025 on 26 December 2025 under the aegis of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India.
The programme was graced by Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University, as the Chief Guest, along with Prof. L. Thambal Singh, Dr. Dalip Singh, and Dr. Laishram Santosh Singh as distinguished dignitaries. To promote sportsmanship, physical fitness, and inter-university harmony, football and basketball matches were organised among Manipur University, the National Sports University, and Dhanamanjuri University.
The programme commenced with a welcome and keynote address by Dr. Laishram Santosh Singh, Programme Coordinator, NSS Cell, Manipur University. In his address, he highlighted the historical and moral significance of Veer Bal Diwas, observed annually on 26 December, to commemorate the unparalleled sacrifice, extraordinary bravery, and unwavering faith of the younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
Prof. L. Thambal Singh, Head, Department of PESS, described the celebration as a highly significant occasion and appreciated the inter-university sports initiative for fostering unity and healthy relations. He extended his best wishes to all players for their spirited participation and exemplary sportsmanship.
Dr. Dalip Singh, NSS Programme Officer, stated that the celebration of Veer Bal Diwas would contribute towards peace, harmony, and social unity in the state, particularly among the youth.
In his address, Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, emphasized that Veer Bal Diwas, observed nationwide on 26 December, honours the courage, resilience, and moral strength of children and inspires the youth to uphold righteousness and justice. Following his address, the basketball match between Manipur University and Dhanamanjuri University was inaugurated, with the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor introducing the players and extending his best wishes for fair and spirited competition.
Simultaneously, the football match was inaugurated in the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including Prof. Ch. Ibohal Singh, Dean, Students’ Welfare, Manipur University; Dr. O. Shantajit Singh, Assistant Professor, Manipur College; and Dr. Laishram Santosh Singh, Programme Coordinator, NSS Cell, Manipur University. The dignitaries addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of Veer Bal Diwas and motivating the players and coaches with their encouraging messages and blessings.
In conclusion, Dr. Laishram Santosh Singh proposed the vote of thanks, expressing sincere gratitude to all dignitaries, guests, organisers, coaches, managers, and players for their valuable presence and cooperation, which ensured the grand success of the programme.
