Research Summary
My area of research is biophysical studies of protein structure, function, folding and misfolding. The effect of post-translation modification and chemical modification on proteins is investigating in our lab. We also engage in investigating how small molecule compounds affect native protein structure, stability and enzymatic catalysis.
Now the main active research is to reveal the structure-function relationships and physiological role of the protein, Peroxiredoxin 6 (Prdx6). Prdx 6 is unique as a bifunctional enzyme with both glutathione peroxidase and phospholipase A2 activities. We are doing research on the structural insight of Prdx6 such as the mechanism of the activities, physiological effect of oligomerization, repair of peroxidised membranes and normal turnover of lung surfactant phospholipids.
