ABOUT THE SEMINAR:
Today, the world is becoming a global village due to the globalisation. In the recent past we have witnessed tremendous growth in tourism, trade and commerce, people to people connectivity world over. In such a juncture understanding people, language and culture of different communities and also the kind of benefits and challenges globalization has brought world over has become a major area of concern. However, this globalization has also become a major threat to the culture of indigenous people and smaller communities. There are smaller communities residing in different parts of the globe having their own unique languages and cultures and it has become a great challenge for such smaller communities to preserve their cultures and languages. This seminar will provide a platform to discuss and deliberate upon the various areas of Culture, Tourism, Indigenous People and Sustainable Development world over. The outcome of the discussions and deliberations among the academia, researchers and participants will be of immense benefit in terms of policy makers and planning for promotion of tourism, culture and language aligning to preserving the indigenous people and environment. Faculty members of Universities/colleges, Research scholars, from various streams of study and People from the industry/research institutes who are having some sort of activities in the above areas may kindly contribute papers.

Academicians, economists, policy makers, entrepreneurs, industry professionals, business practitioners, consultants, students and researchers in the field of trade, commerce, industry, social sciences, humanities and behaviourial science disciplines may participate and present papers.

Call for Papers:
Papers of unpublished work are invited in all areas pertaining to culture, tourism, indigenous people and sustainable development for presentations in the International seminar. All the accepted papers will be published in an edited book with ISBN.

Certificates of Paper Presentation and Participation will be issued to all the paper presenters and the participants respectively.

All the participants are encouraged to register in advance. The fees for registration for various categories of participants are as below:

About the Seminar Venue: The Seminar will be organized at Manipur University Canchipur, Imphal. Manipur is located in North Eastern part of India and shares International border with Myanmar. The State is well known for its scenic beauty and cultural heritage. Imphal, the state capital of Manipur is well connected by air with the major cities like New Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati. Three National Highways viz. NH-102, NH-37 and NH-150 cross the State connecting all districts. The Manipur University is located about 10 km from Imphal Airport and is 7 km from North AOC Bus stand of Imphal City. The nearest rail head is at Dimapur, Nagaland which is 208 km from Imphal by road (NH-2). The weather of Imphal during February is pleasant and cold. Participants are requested to bring warm woollen clothing.

 

About Manipur University: The Manipur University came into existence on June 5, 1980. It became a Central University on October 13, 2005, under the Manipur University Act, 2005, passed by the Parliament, Government of India. The main objectives of the university are to disseminate and advance knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities, to make provisions for integrated courses in humanities, natural and physical sciences, social sciences, forestry and other allied disciplines in the educational programmes; to take appropriate measures for promoting innovations in teaching-learning process, inter-disciplinary studies and research; to educate and train manpower for the development of the country in and North Eastern Region in particular, to pay special attention to the improvement of the social and economic conditions and welfare of the people of the state, and also to enhance their intellectual, academic and cultural development. Located in the historic place Canchipur, with scenic surroundings, the campus is endowed with historical and cultural places like the Rasmandal, the place where the famous Ras Lila was performed during the reign of Rajashri Bhagyachandra, and the Langthabal Konung (Palace), where King Maharaja Gambhir Singh, who liberated Manipur from the Burmese, took his last breath. Canchipur is also the birthplace of Dr Lamabam Kamal Singh, a renowned poet of Manipur.

About Centre for Entrepreneurship and Skill Development: The Centre for Entrepreneurship and Skill Development (CESD) was established under the School of Social Sciences, Manipur University in 2014 with an objective to act as a catalyst towards the promotion and advancement of entrepreneurship and skill. Today, Manipur and North eastern states have become a major place of attraction for entrepreneurship due to the Look East Policy/Act East Policy of Government of India. Manipur is now becoming the gateway to South East Asian countries as it is bordering with Myanmar and the highways and trans-Asian railway will be passing through Manipur (Moreh-Tamu sector). In order to meet the global challenges and the new opportunities thrown to the industrial development in the region and also to generate more employment for the youths and utilities of the human resource potential, entrepreneurship and skill development activities have to be given a priority. With increasing unemployment among the educated, the need is being felt for giving due attention to employable skills in higher education too. The CESD aims at motivating and guiding the educated youths to enable them to move a step forward and take up a career of self-employment and set up enterprises as an entrepreneur and become job creators in the tight job market.

About Research Forum Manipur: Research Forum Manipur (REFORM) is a non profit voluntary organisation established on 21st November 2007 and it has been registered under Manipur Societies Registration Act 1980 having the mission and vision of the organisation to play a leading role in research and developmental movement of educational, literary, social, art, culture, historical, economic, ayurvedic and indigenous medicines in the state of Manipur for the better cause of human mankind. Accordingly, REFORM has been organising various activities like seminars, conferences, publication of books and journal and other events related to culture, historical significance and languages etc, of Manipur in collaboration with various organizations including Government departments like Planning, SCERT and Manipur University etc.
