Brief Biodata:

Dr . Bachaspatimayum Bidyapati  Sharma, born at Brahmapur Nahabam Bachaspati Leirak, Imphal  in a family of music lovers, started receiving Swar Gyan from his father B. Jayantakumar Sharma  at the age of five. From 1971 onwards he participated in the All India Radio Imphal Childrens Programme and rendered programmes of Manipuri Light Music occassionally . In his early age Bidyapati received training in Hindustani Shastriya Sangeet from Shri M. Kumar Singh, Violinist of Govt.Music College . In 1979 he received regular training in Hindustani Shastriya Sangeet from Smt.Ashem Bimola Devi, well known singer of  Hindustani Classical Music and Manipuri Light song who was in the Teaching Staff of Shri Shri Balmukund Govt. Music College for five long years. He passed Sangeet Visharad (Vocal) from Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapith Lucknow in 1984.

Bidyapati obtained Diploma in Classical Manipuri Dance from JNMDA in 1989. He then admitted to the Performing Arts Faculty, Banaras Hindu University, passing  B.Mus. in 1994 and M.Music in 1996. After receiving Master of Music Degree, he did research work in music under the guidance or Prof. Dr. Ritwik Sanyal of BHU who is an eminent artiste of Hindustani Classical Music (Dhrupad) having both national and international fame and  received Doctor of Music (D. Mus.) degree in 2001.
