About Public Relations (PR) Office
The Public Relations (PR) Office of Manipur University is responsible for managing the communication, media relations and favourable public image. It serves as a crucial link between the university and its stakeholders including students, faculty, alumni, government bodies, civil societies, media and the general public. The responsibilities of PRO include developing and implementing communication strategies that shape the University’s reputation, ensuring its achievements and initiatives are recognized locally, nationally and globally.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the university, as a custodian of the university’s public image, ensures that the university's vision, values, achievements, news, and developments are conveyed clearly, positively and consistently to all stakeholders, promoting transparency and accountability, paving a way for the university to lead in academic excellence.

To be a dynamic communication bridge that fosters transparency, engagement, trust and credibility between Manipur University and its stakeholders at local, regional, national and international levels, advancing the university’s academic excellence, promoting cultural diversity and social commitment, and creating goodwill for the university.
Mission
The main mission of the Public Relations (PR) Office is to build, maintain and protect the University's reputation, enhance its status and present a positive image. Promote the University’s achievements, academic activities, innovations, research breakthroughs, collaborative ventures and cultural strengths of Manipur University through strategic communication and media outreach.
The office will serve as a reliable source of information for the university, ensuring timely and accurate dissemination of university news, events, and developments to the public and media through official press releases, news updates, advertisements and public announcements, strengthening relationships with students, faculty, alumni, governmental and non-governmental bodies, academic partners, media, and the general public through clear and consistent communication, supporting university outreach programmes, awareness programmes, community engagement initiatives and extension activities.
It aims to align communication strategies with the university’s vision and academic priorities, in line with National Education Policy (NEP 2020), contributing to institutional development, highlighting the unique cultural heritage of Manipur as an integral part of the university’s identity, bridging between academia and society.
Activities
The PRO undertakes a wide-range of activities to ensure transparency, engagement, and outreach. It’s activities includes media coordination, timely coverage and accurate reporting, drafting and dissemination of press releases on University’s news and achievements, maintaining media relations, facilitating internal and external communication, event promotion and coverage, website content management of news and events, overall digital media and online presence, crisis communication, reputation management, stakeholder engagement, documentation and archiving of media coverage, branding and image building. PRO also serves as a Central Public Information Officer (CPIO) of the university, managing RTI matters and public grievances portal of the university.
