Manipur University, 07/02/2022: “SURYA NAMASKAR PRACTICE” in the celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Aahatsav was organized at Kamal Indoor stadium of the Manipur University by the Department of Yoga and the NSS Cell of Manipur University. In the program, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Manipur University, Prof. N. Lokendra Singh was the Chief- Guest. His speech mentioned the needs of Surya Namaskar Practice in the present scenario as India marked Seventy-five crores of Suriya Namaskar Practice in the Celebration Of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The Guest of honors were all Deans namely: Prof K Yogendra Singh (Dean of Mathematical and Physical Science), Prof. Takhellambam Inaobi Singh (Dean of Education), Prof Dr. R. Varatharajan (Dean of Life Sciences), Prof. W. Chandbabu Singh, Registrar, Dr. L. Vishwanath Sharma (Dean student welfare).
Dr. Maibam Nodiyachand Singh, HOD, Department of Yoga and NSS Cell –Coordinator, Manipur University gave his presidential address. He explained the importance of Surya Namaskar Practice. Surya Namaskar is mixed of Asanas and Breathing techniques with 12 steps including eight asanas woven left and right. Regular Surya Namaskar Practice enhanced immune system, tone up body, save from risk of B.P, Constipation, and Diabetes and regulate all body functions. It can be practiced only if we don’t have must time for other activities. After that, he leads Surya Namaskar Practice of twelve rounds
In the program, all administrative officers were there namely: Prof Homendra Naorem (Director, Human Resource Development Centre), N. Thoiba Singh (University Engineer), Dr. R.K. Joteen Singh (Deputy Registrar, Administrative), Dr.Ch Pradeepkumar Singh (ADS), Dr. S Opendra Singh (Security Officer), faculties of PESS, and other departments of Manipur University. A beautiful Yoga Asanas was demonstrated by the students of the Yoga Department. There were about 100 participants in the Surya Namaskar Practice with maintained SOP of Covid -19 Protocol.
