About Computer Centre, Manipur University

Manipur University has a Computer Centre which was established in the year 1985. The Centre is run under the supervision of the Systems Manager as the Head of the Centre. The Systems Manager is assisted by three officers i.e. one Systems Engineer, two Programmers and six other supporting staff.

  • Campus-wide University Network: The campus-wide University network consists of state of the art networking equipment capable of providing high bandwidth with 1 Gbps Optical fiber backbones at the distribution level to provide connectivity to all Faculties, Departments and Centers at Manipur University. NKN connectivity provides resource sharing with all major educational and research institutions across the country.
  • Campus Wi-Fi: Campuses of the University are Wi-Fi enabled established under MHRD Campus Wi-Fi Project with high-speed Access points (APs), Routers and Switching Network Devices. Currently, there are over 5000 users enrolled on the system comprising of Students, Faculty members and Staff. The WiFi services are fully maintained and managed by M/s RailTel Corporation of India Ltd. with dedicated onsite engineers
  • Campus CCTV Surveillance: University has a campus-wide IP based CCTV surveillance covering many outdoor locations. A centralized recording facility has been installed at Computer Centre.
  • The Centre has got a classroom cum Computer Laboratory with 30 PCs.

The Computer Centre performs the task of digitization of the University for almost all the University activities (administrative, financial, academic, examination works etc). Manipur University has implemented many modules under the Samarth Project which is a University Information Management System project under the Ministry of Education (MOE).
The Computer Centre is also providing Email services, Website designing and maintenance to University Community. The centre is executing other forthcoming ICT enabled initiatives like state of the art online classroom, Learning Management Systems (LMS), video conferencing solutions, eOffice, robust Data Centre etc with the industry best practices.
