International Conference cum Interactive Session with State Constitution Coordinating Body (Myanmar) on Borderland and Governance: North East India and Myanmar

Centre for Myanmar Studies, Manipur University organised interactive session with State Constitution Coordinating Body (Myanmar) on Borderland and Governance: North East India and Myanmar at the Court Hall of the Manipur University.

The inaugural function was graced by Prof. W.Vishwanath, Vice Chancellor(i/c), Manipur University as Chief Guest, Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Director, Centre for Myanmar Studies, Manipur University as President and Dr. SaiOo, Director, Pyidaungsu Institute, Myanmar as Guest of Honours. The welcome address was presented by Prof. MC Arunkumar, Program Coordinator, Centre for Myanmar Studies, MU. The function have 65 active participants along with 33 Myanmar Delegates.

Today (11th December 2018), the Morning Academic Session of International Conference cum Interactive Session was based on the Understanding the Admistrative System in Manipur. Prof. W. Nabakumar moderates the said session. O. Nabakeshore (IAS, Director General, State Academy of Training, Government of Manipur) talk about the Admistrative System in Manipur. BK Sharma (Joint Director, Manipur Judicial Academy, Manipur High Court) deliver the Judiciary System in Manipur. Clay Khongsai (IPS, Inspector General of Police, Govt of Manipur) speech was on Security Problems in Manipur. Talk on Politics of Article 371 C of Indian Constitution was deliver by Dr. VareisoNingshen, LMS Law College, Imphal. Babloo Loitongbam (Human Right Alert, Manipur) speech was on struggle for Justice: A Perspective on AFSPA, 1958. Pradip Phanjoubam (Editor, Imphal Free Press) say the role of Media in Manipur.
The afternoon Academic Session was moderated by Prof. N.Lokendra Singh (Dean, School of Social Science & Director, Centre for Myanmar Studies, MU). The session was on Building Partnership across Borderland, with Myanmar panellists as Victor Biak Lian (Head of Myanmar Delegates), MaranJaSengHkawn (Member of Parliament, Kachin State Parliament) and SaiKyawNyunt (Joint General Secretary, Shan National League for Democracy).

Tommorow (12th December 2018) program will comprise the Site seeing of Kangla Fornt & War Cemetery, Imphal. Visting Assembly Secretariat & Secretariat Museum, Imphal. Meeting with Hon'ble Chief Minister of Manipur at his Office Chamber at around 5.00pm. At 7.00 pm, have Dinner & Rock N Roll, Rotary Club, Imphal. The Myanmar delegates will check out on 13th December 2018.

Centre for Myanmar Studies, Manipur University, the only Centre in India is the brainchild of the scholarly collectivism of the academia of Manipur University, came into existence in 2005 under the Area Studies Programme of the UGC with a broad vision of understanding Myanmar from the multidisciplinary perspective. The Centre has been running a siz-month language certificate course on Myanmar language since its inception. The centre has started PG Diploma Course on Burmese/Myanmarese Language of eight papers from 2014 with a view to imparting basic knowledge of Myanmar language, besides the normal Seminars, Conference, workshops and Interface series organised by the Centre.
The Trip to North-East India by State Constitution Coordinating Body (Myanmar) was started from 5th December 2018 to 13th December 2018.
