    A Brief Introduction:

Dr H Nandakumar Sarma got his M.Sc. degree of Physics from Banaras Hindu University in the year 1968. As a CSIR fellow, he did research on Mossbauer effect at BHU. After that he went to the Blackett Laboratory of Physics of the Royal College of Science in Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London.

He did research on pion-nucleon scattering experiments using the atom smashing machine-7GeV proton synchrotron at the Rutherford Laboratory, Oxfordshire. Besides, he did experiments on thermal and ultra cold neutron scattering experiments at the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Agency (UKAE) Harwell. He has wide interest in sculpture and painting of the renaissance period. Professor Sarma Visited places like Venice, Florence, Rome, Pisa, Switzerland and Paris. He has witten more than two hundred popular science article in Manipuri and English.

He joined J N University of Center of P.G.Studies, Imphal which is now Manipur University as Fellow Associate Professor on 8th February 1977. He is the founder Head of Physics Department, Computer Centre and Computer Science Department of Manipur University. Professor Sarma initiated the post graduate teaching programmes in physics. On his guidence experimental facility for M Sc Physics was set up.

On the research front his area of interest are superconductivity, ferroelectric, ferrites, XRF, PIXE, thin films and solar energy etc.

He has taken keen interest in science and technology coverage in mass media and has been actively involved in popularization of science to society.
