A Brief Introduction
Prof N Rajmuhon Singh
born on May 1, 1956 at Kakching Turel Wangma, Thoubal District,
Manipur is currently working as Professor of the Department of Chemistry,
Manipur University. He received his B Sc (Chemistry Hons,)
degree from Gauhati University, Assam (1977). He obtained his M Sc (Chemistry)
(1982) and M.Phil.(1983) degrees from Kurukhetra University, Harayana and Ph D
degree (1980) from Manipur University. He joined Department of Chemistry,
Manipur University as a faculty member in the year 1985.
Prof Rajmuhon was working as Dean of Students’ Welfare,
Manipur University during 2001-2004 and Head of Department of Chemistry,
M.U. during 2005-2007. He was a member of Senate Syndicate member,
Board of Studies, School of Research Committee, Court Member, etc.
and currently member of Academic Council, member of IPR Cell,
member Library Committee and Chairman, Course Structure for
Undergraduate Courses of Foundation Course (Environmental Studies),
Manipur University. Prof. Rajmuhon has been a life member of a
number of national and international professional and honour societies.
Prof. Rajmuhon has participated and presented many research papers in
national and international conferences/seminars/workshops.
He has more than 50 research papers which are published in
referred national and international journals. Prof. Rajmuhon
is actively working in many research areas under different
centrally sponsored projects. Nine research scholars got Ph.D.
degrees under his guidance and supervision. Currently many
research scholars and post doctoral scholars including one woman
scientist under DST, Govt. of India are working in his laboratory.
Prof. Rajmuhon is author of 3 books & co author of 9 books
including two text books.
Not only academic pursuits Prof Rajmuhon is also taking keen interest in popularization of science.
Prof N Rajmuhon is working in various research areas, viz., nanomaterials, spectral studies of lanthanides chemistry, outer-sphere ion association of co-ordination compounds, trace element analysis and biological activities of indigenous food items including fermented bamboo shoots, chemical investigations on arsenic-contaminated tube-well waters, water analysis of Nambul River and Loktak lake, etc.
